Bella

The TWILIGHT is an action-packed, modern-day love story between a teenage girl and a vampire. Isabella Swan moves to gloomy Forks to live with her father. As she starts her junior year in high school she becomes fascinated by Edward Cullen who holds a dark secret which is only known by his family. Edward falls in love with Bella as well but knows the further they progress in their relationship the more he is putting Bella and those close to her at risk. Edward warns Bella that she should leave him but she refuses to listen and to understand why he is saying this. Bella learns his secret. He is a vampire, however she is not afraid of his blood-thirsty needs and the fact he could kill her at any moment. Bella is afraid of losing him, the love of her life. The thrill begins when a new vampire finds it a challenge to hunt Bella down for her irresistible blood. The game is on and James will not stop until she is killed.

This version of Dracula is closely based on Bram Stoker’s classic novel of the same name. A young lawyer (Jonathan Harker) is assigned to a gloomy village in the mists of eastern Europe. He is captured and imprisoned by the undead vampire Dracula, who travels to London, inspired by a photograph of Harker’s betrothed, Mina Murray. Notting Hill

2010
01.28

Director: Roger Michell
Cast: Julia Roberts/Hugh Grant

The plot of this film follows the common beat of a traditional romantic comedy: boy and girl meet, they get to know each other and love each other, and then unexpected interferences come.In this case, the state of life is the major obstacle. Our actor is a bookshop owner in London, while the actress is a Hollywood star, famous all around the world. Behind her glorious appearance, she lives an uneasy life, full of disturbances and noises. And what she want most is true love but not fame.
What I learnt from this film is that one should never cower but cope with it bravely on the pursuit of true love. No matter how great difference between you and the one you love, just walk on hand in hand. Love is afraid of nothing. Love shall overcome all.

Sherlock Holmes (2009)

2010
01.25

Director: Guy Ritchie
Cast: Robert Downey Jr. / Jude Law / Rachel McAdams
/ Mark Strong / Kelly Reilly
Genre: Action, Adventure, Mystery

Isn’t it adopted from the well-known stories by Conan Doyle? Isn’t it a detective film? Right, but also wrong! With Guy Ritchie, everything is totally different from what you have expected.

As a typical gentleman in the original work, Sherlock Holmes portrayed by Robert Downey is a big surprise to the audience. Messy, dizzy, freaky, Holmes is a disaster to Dr. Watson in daily life. He played violin when Watson was sleeping; he experimented on Watson’s dog; he stole Watson’s clothes etc.
But his odd behaviors were just the disguise of his extraordinary wisdom. Holmes is actually studying every possible clue to reach the truth. Violin inspired him; the experiment on the dog provided essential clue; Watson’ clothes disguised him.
Besides his detective skills, the director put emphasis on Holmes’s versatility. His major is consulting detective, while he is also good at boxing, fencing and chemical experiments.
Altogether, this Holmes is no longer a flat character. A mixture of Captain Jack and Iron Man. Just let your imagination take flight!

Director: Frank Darabont
Cast: Tim Robbins/Morgan Freeman/Bob Gunton

The Shawshank redemption earns seven Oscar nominations including Best Picture in 1994. The popular TV series, Prison Break is adopted from this film. It is an absolutely classic for fans of escape film.

Shawshank Redemption poster

The movie opens with Andy Dufresne on trial for the murder of his wife and her lover. The sequence is brilliant in that it not only gets us quickly interested in the story, but also gives us some back-story of our actor.
Andy’s story is told through the narrations of Red who is the man in Shawshank that knows how to get things. His friendship with Andy started when Andy approached him about obtaining a rock hammer. Red may not be the hero of the story, but it is him who drives the plot.
“Salvation lies within”, advises Warden Norton at one point. It is the presentation of this theme that makes The Shawshank Redemption unique. Prison movies often focus on the violent and hopeless life behind bars. The Shawshank Redemption is all about hope and, because of that, watching it is both uplifting and inspiring.
