Film: I Am Legend
Director: Francis Lawrence
Cast: Will Smith/Alice Braga/Salli Richardson/Paradox Pollack/Charlie Tahan
Are you expecting Will Smith as humorous as Hitch or as careless as he as the detective in I, Robert? This time, Will is the only major person in this disaster film. Due to the spread of a lethal virus, U.S. Army virologist Lieutenant Colonel Robert Neville (Will Smith) is left as the last healthy human in New York City, and possibly the entire creepy world. Every day, he broadcast the same thing: My name is Robert Neville. I am a survivor living in New York City. I am broadcasting on all AM frequencies. I will be at the South Street Seaport everyday at mid-day, when the sun is highest in the sky. If you are out there… if anyone is out there… I can provide food, I can provide shelter, I can provide security. If there’s anybody out there… anybody… please. You are not alone.
The story opens in 2012, and a series of flashbacks and recorded news programs reveal that three years earlier a measles virus, called KV, was originally created as a cure for cancer, mutated into a lethal strain, similar to rabies, which rapidly infected humans and some animal species. By the end of the first year following the infection, more than 90% of the planet’s human population died; over 9% were infected, but did not die. These survivors turn into zombies. The remaining 1% were immune to the v

irus, but were hunted and killed by the infected, killed by fellow survivors or commit suicide due to isolation.
Different from other disaster films which highlight the terror and panic of normal people, this one put emphasis on the bravery and hope of human being. Although isolated and dreadful, Neville never give up the hope of finding his cousins. And finally, he made it and worked out the cure of the virus. In order to save the rare human beings-a woman and her kids, he devoted his life to fighting with the zombies.
